On the plains
Morrows are huge, slow, moss-green grazers. Brackenbacks are rust-brown with an ivory horn. Dunesails roam the deserts and savannas. Hunt them for meat and the leather for a Bedroll and sleeping; they flee when hurt.
Tempers
Animals are shy, curious or begging, and they remember you. Crouch and hold out food, or leave it on the ground and step back, and a wary one comes closer over time. Calm animals let you climb on and ride them; only shy ones run.
Predators like the Shoreclaw, the Cinderfang and the Birds of prey can be drawn off with a toss of raw meat instead of a fight.
At the water
Shoreclaws, knee-high crabs, only pinch if you come close. Lantern jellies sting if you touch them.
What they leave
- Reedhorn, Brackenback and Morrow: meat, leather and bone always, sinew now and then. The Morrow leaves the most.
- Dunesail, Loomback, Reedstrider and Rimeback: a good share of meat, leather and bone, always.
- Puffneck, Mudroot, Sunpocket, Pebblehop and Veilhare: a little meat, leather and bone.
- Kettlebeak: a little meat and bone, no leather.
- Suncrest and Moonveil: a morsel of meat.
- Spriglet: a blossom and a glowseed, always.
- Shoreclaw: chitin and meat, always.
- Lantern jelly: a glowseed, often.
- Sailsnout: fish, always. Fish in a school leave one each.
TipFire spoils a kill: a burning animal leaves no leather or sinew, and its meat comes out roasted.
