World and friends

Playing together

Open your world to friends and build, explore, cook and fight together.

A friend and you chop down a big tree together.

Host a game

Open the Field pack, touch Multiplayer and Host game. Choose who sees your world: everyone, or friends only. Friends see it in the list and touch it to join. How many players it holds depends on the headset that hosts it.

Join a game

Open Multiplayer and touch a world in the list. Worlds of friends and invitations are marked. You arrive as a ghost and watch your own pod come down and print you. Everyone in the session needs the same version of the game.

Friends who join the world land in the same spot and wave hello.

Friends

The Friends board keeps your friends, requests and the people you have played with on their own tabs, showing who is online and whose world you can join. It holds the friends you added with a friend code and your Meta friends who play Starworn. Players you block on Meta cannot join your games.

What is shared

The world is shared: terrain, buildings, machines, fires and chests, and the time, season and weather. Your pack, tools and health are your own. The night passes once everyone is asleep on a Bedroll and sleeping.

Voice and the host

Voice chat is by distance: close players are loud, far ones fade away, and walls, doors and rock muffle them. Switch your mic and the voices you hear on the multiplayer page.

The host can kick a player from the session or ban them for good, and in a Sandbox worlds world can turn player damage off for everyone.
