World and friends

Your worlds and saves

A named list of worlds, each Survival, Peaceful or Sandbox, with export, import and Meta cloud backup.

The Worlds tab: your worlds, New world and Import.

Your list

Press the gear on your pack's edge to open Settings, then pick Worlds. It shows your worlds three at a time, with an arrow to page through them. Each one has Load, Export, Name to rename it and X to delete it.

Make a new world

  • Press + New world under the list.
  • Name it on the keyboard, up to 20 letters, or keep the name it suggests. Press Done.
  • Choose how it plays: Survival, Peaceful or Sandbox.
  • Press Create. < Name takes you back to the name.
  • The game makes the world and takes you into it.
Naming a new world on the keyboard, then Done.
After Create, the game makes the world and then opens it.

How a world plays

Survival is the full game, with hostile creatures and raids on a rich settlement.

Peaceful is the same world with nothing hostile. Animals stay, and so do the creatures that only defend themselves when you bother them, like bats at their roost or bees at the hive. Everything that hunts you is gone.

Sandbox adds a Sandbox tab to Settings, where you set the sky and the rules and get building tools. Turn enemies off there and it plays much like Peaceful.

The choice is fixed when you create the world, so an old world cannot be switched over.

Choosing how the new world plays: Survival, Peaceful or Sandbox, then Create.

Delete a world

Press the X on a world, then press again to confirm. You cannot delete the world you are playing.

Export and import

Export saves a world as one file in the game's shared folder. Import lists the exports it finds and copies one in as a new world. It never writes over a world you have.

Backup and trouble

Meta Cloud Backup keeps your recent worlds and your settings in your Meta account, and a reinstall brings them back. If a world ever crashes the game as it opens, the next launch starts a fresh world and the crashed one stays in your list, untouched. A world made by a newer version asks you to update.

Far from home

The world is big. Long journeys stay steady, with no jitter or cracks far from where you started.
