Cooking stick

Stab food onto the point, hold it over a fire and pull it off when it has browned.

Load it

Hold the stick in one hand and thrust its point into food held in the other, or lying on the ground. Each new piece slides the others down the shaft.

Push a piece of food onto the tip of the stick.
Several pieces slide down the stick as you add more, and it fills up.

Roast it

Hold it over a burning Campfire. Closer cooks faster, and too long burns it. A burnt piece crumbles to ash. It is only a stick: on a tree it chips no better than a fist.

Hold the loaded stick over the flames until the food turns brown.
Leave the stick in the fire too long and the food goes dark and burnt.

Take food off

Close your free hand on a piece and pull it toward the tip. Roasted food fills you much more than raw, so it is worth the wait.
