Camp and survival

Campfire

Light, warmth and the place you cook. Grass fibre catches, wood keeps it burning.

Friends gather around a lit campfire in daylight, roasting food on sticks.

Make and place it

Craft a campfire kit on the Pack tray and place it on level ground with a little space around it.

Pick the campfire from the pack, see the ghost, and set it down on the ground.

Add fuel

Hold grass fibre over the stone ring and let go so it falls in, then add wood. The fibre is the tinder, and the wood keeps it going.

Drop dry fibre and wood into the ring of stones to build the fire up.

Light it

  1. Take a stone in each hand.
  2. Knock them together over the ring. Each knock throws sparks and drops an ember.
  3. Make sure the ember lands in the ring. Knock again while it glows to help it catch.

TipSparks over an empty hearth fade, so put some fibre in first.

Knock two stones together over the fuel to throw sparks and light the fire.

Cook on it

Hold food over the flames on a Cooking stick. Food dropped straight into a burning fire burns up. A Camp stove cooks food that you leave on its grill.

Rain, coal and visitors

Rain weakens an uncovered fire, so build a roof or load it with plenty of wood. Burning wood leaves charcoal in the ash pit, and you can grab it once the fire has died down. A burning fire also draws hunters at night. Its light stays on your side of a wall.
