Where it comes from
Iron sits deeper than copper and gets commoner the further you go down. A rusty brown stain called gossan marks it. See Finding ore and Mining and mauls.
Ironbound hollows, frontier raiders and the Signal guards of the keep now and then leave a lump too.
What it is for
Smelt it at the Smelter and work the ingots at the Forge into iron tools and weapons.
