Bombs and blasting

Light the fuse at any fire and throw. Blast rods give the blast hammer its punch.

A clay pot bomb and an iron bomb on the grass.

Clay and iron bombs

The powder bench packs a clay bomb as it stands. Set its casing mould on and it packs iron bombs too, which have a bigger charge and a wider burst. Both need black powder, which the bench's mill grinds from charcoal and chitin.

Light the fuse

Hold the fuse in any flame for a moment: a torch, a campfire, a smelter, or a glowing iron blade. Sparks from a stone sword on rock work too. It fizzes, and a short while later it bursts where it is. Throw it before then. Thrown cold, a bomb is only a heavy pot.

CarefulA lit bomb goes off in your hand if you hold it, and a blast hurts whoever stands in it, you included. Blasts set off other bombs lying nearby, and a bomb left on a bench catches from flame close by, so keep fire away from them.

Blast rods and the blast hammer

The blast hammer is made at the Forge once its quench tank is on. Rods come from the powder bench with the casing mould. Bring a rod to the hammer's rear collar and it clicks home. Hold the trigger on a blow and the rod goes off for a bigger blast that breaks a patch of rock and sends creatures flying. Ordinary swings still work with no rod.
